Ovidiu Portariuc, General Director of Loteria Romana

Ovidiu Portariuc comments on his nomination: “For me, it is an honour and a challenge to lead one of the oldest Romanian institutions, the Romanian Lottery (Loteria Romana), which celebrated this year 111 years of operations.”

“It is a difficult mission, with many ongoing projects, some strategic ones, which aim to consolidate the position of the Romanian Lottery on the Romanian market and to highlight the role that the company has had since its establishment, and continues to fulfill, to support national public interest projects and social responsibility.”

“The Romanian Lottery’s main objective is the improvement and implementation of new systems to allow the diversification of lottery games and on-line games.”

“Without question, it is an advantage that, before I was appointed general manager, I became familiar with the complexity of the Romanian Lottery, as a member of the Board of Directors, but also as a Counsellor to the Minister of Public Finance, the institution which oversees the Romanian Lottery.
The full membership of the Romanian Lottery in The European Lotteries is vital as it forces us to maintain and grow the standards and professionalism of the company we represent. I believe that for the Romanian Lottery, the involvement in the projects and approaches made by European Lotteries, remain an opportunity that I want to cultivate in order to offer products and services of high quality and responsible games to our players and in fulfilling the social mission of similar companies in Europe.”
