New Managing Director at Germany’s Lotto Brandenburg

Earlier this year Kerstin Kosanke was appointed Managing Director of Land Brandenburg Lotto GmbH. She now manages the lottery together with Anja Bohms.

Kerstin Kosanke, Managing Director of Land Brandenburg Lotto GmbH

After finishing her law studies in Potsdam, Ms. Kosanke worked for 15 years as an independent lawyer with a focus on tax law and management consulting. Her main tasks included support for medium-sized companies in the Berlin and Brandenburg region, with an emphasis on process optimisation, accompaniment of restructuring, purchase and sale of companies and parts of companies.

As Managing Director of Land Brandenburg Lotto, her vision is focused on two main goals: one, securing the future of the lottery and two, sustaining the principle of the common good. To achieve these objectives, the priority will be to actively network on an economic and political level, with the support of the wider team so to emphasis the public interest element of the lottery.

As Land Brandenburg Lotto is currently facing many regulatory and market-oriented requirements, Ms. Kosanke hopes that the legislator will stick to the state lottery monopoly. She is looking forward to giving the lottery a modern touch in order to better fit the needs and requirements of millennials. The aim is to have a future-oriented lottery, focusing on the customer and aligning products with players’ needs across all generations and distribution channels.

Ms. Kosanke looks forward to her collaboration with EL, especially through exchange, dialogue and networking. She believes that the services offered by EL to its members are extremely important to the development of a “common” Europe in the lottery sector – especially thanks to standards for safe and responsible gaming and the offering of platforms for transnational exchange.

If she ever won the lottery, Ms. Kosanke would be interested in founding an organisation that supports women in their professional advancement in order to bring down the glass ceiling.
