Loteria Romania appoints new General Manager

Since April Alexandru-Mircea Croitoru holds the post of General Manager at C.N. "Loteria Romana" S.A. The Romanian Lottery is one of the oldest institutions in the country, established in 1906 in order to improve the health system, especially in rural areas. Currently, most of its profits are dividends to the state budget, from where national public interest objectives are financed.

Setting the scene

With a background in Business Criminal Law, Mr. Croitoru has over 10 years’ experience at “Loteria Romana” SA – from spokesperson and TV shows moderator, to marketing and sales Director. Before being appointed General Manager, he was the Counsellor of the General Manager for Development, Marketing, Sales and Communication. His extensive experience provides him with in-depth knowledge of the lottery phenomenon, his team and activities in general. This all adds up to a vision of a young man who has proven throughout his career, to have a lot of tenacity and enthusiasm, especially in terms of innovation and brand image consolidation.

2019 marks the 113th anniversary since it was founded. Society has changed over time and undergone many visible transformations on all levels, including mentalities, habits and needs. The Lottery has ensured its continuity in the market, by adapting to changes, in line with players’ expectations. What has not changed and continues to define the Lottery today is its important role financing projects of public interest, targeting different areas of interest.

Mr. Croitoru is honoured to be in his new role and is deeply attached to the values of the Romanian Lottery. He will continue to work on the implementation of projects that will drive the development of the lottery. Its own lottery system, SILOR, launched last year is one example of this development.

The processes of optimising, upgrading and refurbishing the activities of the Lottery remain priorities, both on the exclusivity part that the lottery has, and on the areas where there is open competition. The Strategy is to offer stability and predictability to its players, registered in lotto games and other gambling games organised by the Lottery.

Upcoming priorities

The Romanian Lottery is a state-owned entity under the authority of the most important ministry – the Ministry of Public Finance in Romanian. Currently, the top priority is the development of an alternative channel of sales for the products – an online system. By implementing such a system, the lottery will meet the expectations and needs of an important part of dynamic gamblers who prefer mobile solutions without being constrained by the program of its points of sale.

In parallel, the Lottery will continue to expand its sales network by concluding new partnerships with major retailers operating on the Romanian market and focus on the diversification of its products such as scratch tickets. Promoting responsible gaming, adapting the players’ needs and ensuring high standards of security and integrity are key to building and maintaining the credibility of the lottery brand.

All the development projects that are being considered aim to channel consumers into an expanded portfolio of licensed/responsible games which will then also contribute to the state budget.

EL membership

Being an EL member is a plus for the Romanian Lottery. The values promoted by this lottery are in full compliance with the principles of EL: organising responsible games for the benefit of the community, with respect to the legal and regulatory framework specific to this area of ​​activity.

Participating in the EL workshops represents a good opportunity for a unitary approach to the challenges and problems specific to national lotteries. At the same time, they are a framework that favours the exchange of good practices, and the identification of new trends and solutions for a dynamic market, with a public whose requirements and expectations are in constant change.

On a personal level, Mr. Croitoru admits that one of the greatest satisfactions in over 10 years at the Romanian Lottery remains meeting the big winners, who show such joy on their faces and emotions are running high on both sides. According to him, this is one of the strongest motivations for every employee at the Lottery!

Loteria Romania (loterie nationale roumaine) nomme un nouveau directeur général

Reconnu dans ses nouvelles fonctions de directeur général, Alexandru-Mircea Croitoru continuera de travailler à la mise en œuvre de projets qui contribueront au développement de la loterie.

La société a évolué depuis la création de la loterie roumaine et cette dernière vise à s’adapter aux évolutions en fonction des besoins et des attentes des joueurs, afin d’assurer sa continuité sur le marché. Cependant, le financement des projets de la loterie reste identique.

Les principales priorités comprennent le développement d’un système en ligne de vente des produits, l’expansion du réseau de vente et la diversification des produits, comme les jeux de grattage par exemple. La promotion du jeu responsable, l’adaptation aux besoins des joueurs et l’assurance de normes de sécurité et d'intégrité élevées est essentiel pour asseoir la crédibilité de la marque de la loterie et la préserver.

Être membre d’EL est un avantage. Les événements d’EL sont l’occasion d’échanger les bonnes pratiques et d’adopter une approche unifiée des défis et des problèmes spécifiques aux loteries nationales.

Lotería de Rumania designa nuevo director general

Alexandru-Mircea Croitoru, honrado en su nuevo cargo como director general, seguirá trabajando en la implementación de proyectos que impulsen el desarrollo de la lotería.

La sociedad ha cambiado desde la creación de la Lotería de Rumania y, para garantizar su continuidad en el mercado, tiene como objetivo adaptarse a los cambios en consonancia con las expectativas y necesidades de los jugadores. Lo que no ha cambiado es la financiación de proyectos por parte de la lotería.

Entre las principales prioridades se encuentran el desarrollo de un sistema en línea para la venta de productos, ampliación de su red de ventas y concentrarse en la diversificación de algunos de sus productos, como los boletos de rasca y gana. Promover el juego responsable, adaptarse a las necesidades de los jugadores y garantizar altos estándares de seguridad e integridad son esenciales para desarrollar y mantener la credibilidad de la marca “lotería”.

Ser miembro de EL es una ventaja. Los eventos de EL son oportunidades para intercambiar prácticas recomendadas y para un planteamiento unitario con respecto a los desafíos y problemas específicos de las loterías nacionales.

Loteria Romania ernennt neuen Geschäftsführer

In seiner neuen Rolle als Geschäftsführer wird Alexandru-Mircea Croitoru weiterhin an der Umsetzung von Projekten arbeiten, die die Entwicklung der Lotterie vorantreiben.

Die Gesellschaft hat sich seit der Gründung der rumänischen Lotterie verändert. Um die Kontinuität auf dem Markt zu gewährleisten, lautet das Ziel, sich den Bedürfnissen und Erwartungen der Lottospieler anzupassen. Was sich nicht geändert hat, ist die Finanzierung von Projekten durch die Lotterie.

Zu den Hauptprioritäten zählen die Entwicklung eines Online-Systems für den Verkauf von Produkten, der Ausbau des Vertriebsnetzes und die Fokussierung auf die Diversifizierung von Produkten, wie beispielsweise Rubbellose. Die Förderung des verantwortungsvollen Glücksspiels, die Anpassung an die Bedürfnisse der Spieler und die Gewährleistung hoher Sicherheits- und Integritätsstandards sind der Schlüssel zum Aufbau und zur Aufrechterhaltung der Glaubwürdigkeit der Lotterie-Marke.

EL-Mitglied zu sein, ist ein Pluspunkt. EL-Veranstaltungen bieten die Gelegenheit zum Austausch bewährter Verfahren und zu einer einheitlichen Herangehensweise an die Herausforderungen und Probleme, die nationale Lotterien konkret betreffen.
