Knowledge Sharing 2.0

This year’s seminar was organized around 3 topical knowledge-sharing related sections: the presentation of the brand new EL INFO HUB, the knowledge sharing platform created of EL Members; the Lottery markets evolution trends based on the analysis of EL Reports and inspirational insights from external speakers.

The 2018 Knowledge Sharing seminar took place in Geneva on April 18-19, where it gathered around 50 participants interested to learn more about the latest trends in lottery markets and exchange of information.

Launch of the EL INFO HUB

The EL INFO HUB, the new knowledge sharing platform from EL, was launch on March 20, 2018. Its objective is to foster active participation of Members within EL and to create a knowledge network among all Members. During the seminar, some presentations were given to show its main features and to explain the various opportunities it offers. The Live Demo helped all attendees understand the functioning of the platform.

EL Markets

Various presentations were made by members of the EL Knowledge Sharing working group on the outcome of the EL Reports 2016. A summary of the most important trends was given, before each gaming category (Draw-based, Instant, Sports Betting and Online view) was carefully analysed based on the data collected from EL Members for the 2016 Reports.

Interactive feedback sessions

During the seminar, the participants were requested to participate actively to 2 feedback sessions, one on the EL INFO HUB and the second on the EL Reports. It was a chance given to them to give their opinion on both topics and to inspire with innovative ideas. Both sessions produced excellent results, as all participants took their mission very seriously. EL collected all the ideas received, and the working group was tasked with analysing them and coming up with some proposals for change.

Insightful external speakers

David Henwood from H2 Gambling Capital in the UK gave the first speech on global gaming market trends. On the following day, Miklós Zaránd from PwC in Hungary made a presentation on how social listening can create value for lotteries, thanks to this innovative way of hearing and understanding the voice of millions of users on social media. As part of the launch of the EL INFO HUB, Sandrine Mathieu from Pharumlegal recalled the importance of compliance in knowledge sharing to all participants, emphasizing what can and cannot be shared on knowledge exchange platforms.

Then, Martin Chládek from DataSpring in the Czech Republic explained in detail how the use of Business Intelligence can improve the retail sales network performance, using the example of SAZKA that decided to focus on sales process digitalization and subsequent its efficiency increase.  And finally, Jean-Marc Lazard from OpenDataSoft in France gave a presentation on how to turn data into business value.

You work for an EL Member Lottery and still haven’t received your login credentials to access the EL INFO HUB? Ask you Lottery’s Ambassador to grant you access to the platform! There, you’ll find valuable information on the EL Lottery Members, Markets and Association publications, as well as a Newsfeed where you may exchange directly with your Lottery colleagues.

A new Knowledge Sharing seminar will take place in the 2nd half of 2019, see you next year!
