European Lotteries launches new European Lotteries Corporate University
EL continuously strives to provide its Member Lotteries with practical support that includes the best gaming and lottery education and training services possible. In addition to the regular Seminars and Workshops organised by EL to respond to specific needs of Members, there is a constant demand for “basic training” for new entrants to our sector.
Following a review of the requirements in this area EL is presenting a new 3-module European Lottery Corporate University (ELCU). Designed for various levels of participants, three separate modules will eventually provide appropriate course content for EL Member staff and EL Supplier/Partner staff in Europe and Internationally. The content would also be very useful and attractive for staff of national Gaming Regulatory staff.
ELCU – INDUCTION
A 2½ day programme designed for new entrants and “cadets” with up to three years’ lottery experience from support level up to Senior Management level across all Units/Teams of a modern lottery company.
ELCU – EXECUTIVE
1½ day programme for staff who have completed the ELCU INDUCTION module or have more than 3 years’ lottery experience. Content will comprise case-based material to encourage discussion and guided exchange of views and learnings between participants.
ELCU – DIRECTOR
1 day high level event exclusively for Lottery Directors with eminent speakers and round table summit discussions.
The inaugural ELCU – INDUCTION is being launched in Dublin in September 2018 with almost 50 participants from 26 Lottery companies and Partners/Suppliers.
The level of the participants ranges from newly appointed Lottery Directors to Junior Product Managers.
Over two and a half days, participants will experience the full range and extent of lottery organisation, games, activities, channels and development, together with an extensive overview of all aspects of the regulatory and competitive environment of the total gaming market in which lotteries compete and operate in Europe. All of this within the context of the strategy of EL and the model it stands for.
In addition to formal presentations, activities include Case Studies with plenty of interaction as well as Design Exercises with all participants presenting solutions to the class.
The content is delivered by an expert team of ten very experienced speakers and experts all of whom work, or have worked, as senior lottery officials or as advisors to lottery management addressing strategic and tactical gaming issues.
A secondary objective of the INDUCTION module is to provide the 50 participants with a networking opportunity to meet lottery professionals from other jurisdictions and benchmark activities from one State Lottery to another.
So, to look at it another way, the ELCU could also stand for …
E for Equality … the INDUCTION module is open to all new entrants in the lottery sector, lottery operators, suppliers and regulators from lottery director level to the newest and most junior lottery officer.
L for Learning … in all of the modules, all of the presenters are experienced teachers and education leaders. They understand and are expert in learning/training in formal and informal institutions and educational spaces.
C for Comprehensive … across all of the three modules all of the activities in gaming companies will be covered at all possible levels of complexity from the basic (in ELCU – INDUCTION) to the intermediate (in ELCU – Executive) to the most advanced level ( in ELCU – DIRECTOR).
U for Unique … no other education programme within the lottery sector or in the private sector offers such a broad agenda of relevant training experience in gaming and lotteries delivered by such a team of quality lottery experts.
Having launched with ELCU – INDUCTION in September 2018, it is planned to repeat this module in September 2019 and offer the ELCU – EXECUTIVE in Spring 2019, for graduates of 2018 ELCU – INDUCTION and serving lottery staff with more than three years’ experience.
As usual, Arjan, our Secretary General is always open to requests from member lotteries to host events. PLI Ireland is graciously hosting the 2018 ELCU in Dublin.
Would you like your Lottery to be the seat of learning in 2019 for ELCU – INDUCTION or ELCU – EXECUTIVE?
Just let Arjan know!
